It tells a fictional story about a bomber squadron's participation in the invasion of Poland and subsequent attacks on British shipping, including a daring raid to free German prisoners of war. A central storyline involves two airmen, Paulsen and Eckhard, who liberate German prisoners, including a woman named Grethe Kubath, whom they both fall in love with. It was a sequel to the 1939 film D III 88.
