"Klein Dorrit" (1934) is a German movie adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel "Little Dorrit," directed by Karel Lamač and starring Anny Ondra. The film tells the story of Amy Dorrit, who spends her days earning money for the family and looking after her proud father, who is a long-term inmate of Marshalsea debtors' prison in London.
Unlike the original novel, “Klein Dorrit” presents a more cheerful and light-hearted narrative, with Amy Dorrit becoming a feisty heroine and the prison environment depicted as a more convivial place.
