Quax, der Bruchpilot (1941) is a German comedy film about a lazy, boastful man named Otto Groschenbügel, played by popular actor Heinz Rühmann, who unexpectedly wins flying lessons in a competition. Despite his initial lack of enthusiasm and discipline, he returns to flight school after being celebrated as a local hero in his hometown and eventually shows himself to be a good pilot.
The camera work is exceptionally good, and at some points you wonder how they achieved such mobility with the contemporary clumsy equipment.
