Comedy
The 1937 German film Die Fledermaus is a comedic adaptation of Johann Strauss's operetta, directed by Paul Verhoeven and Hans H. Zerlett. It adds a framing device where the lead tenor, after performing the operetta too many times, falls asleep and has a bizarre nightmare about the story, which is itself treated with a comedic, "lampooned" style.
I also present two more productions. A 1944-45 German movie. This is the best ‘The Bat’ ever. And a 1955 Jewish/British production “Oh… Rosalinda!!”. I felt sorry for the poor Oscar Sima. Judge for yourself.
