Historical drama film about the development of German theater and a tribute to the first national theater troupe in Weimar, Germany, which was founded in the 18th century.
It focuses on the life of actress Karoline Neuber and her struggles to elevate the status of actors, often seen as social outcasts, while facing opposition from the aristocracy.
