Prussian General von Roedern is designing the top-secret blueprints of a fortress. One day, von Roedern gets to know the attractive singer, Maria. They both fall in love and spend some very romantic days together. When one of his blueprints is found in the embassy of the hostile Austrians, Roedern is charged with treason.
“In the feature film “The Roedern Affair” Paul Hartmann embodied the character of the film hero, endowed with all the Prussian soldierly virtues.” – Boguslaw Drewniak: The German Film 1938–1945. A general overview. Düsseldorf 1987, p. 193.
The French character is a very repulsive person, as in almost all German films of this period.
