"Die schwedische Nachtigall" (1941), also known as "The Swedish Nightingale," is a German film depicting a fictionalized love story between the writer Hans Christian Andersen and the singer Jenny Lind. The film portrays their journey together, including Andersen's admiration for Lind's singing and his recommendation of her to a state minister, Count Rantzau. Lind becomes Rantzau's lover and uses his influence to gain entry into the Stockholm opera school. Andersen dedicated his fairy tale "The Nightingale of the Chinese Emperor" to Lind.
