Leni Riefenstahl’s “Triumph des Willens” is probably the best known and most discussed work of National Socialist propaganda. Its overriding theme is the return of Germany as a great power with Hitler as its leader and savior. Selected narrative cuts, along with Riefenstahl’s planned sequences and documentary shots of martial mass scenes and seemingly random events, combine to glorify the National Socialist government.
