Triumph of the Will

Leni Riefenstahl’s Reichsparteitag film is probably the best known and most discussed work of Nazi propaganda. Beginning with the arrival of Hitler’s plane in Nuremberg, the film shows the various stations of the grand party assembly with the intent of creating a kind of Fuhrer cult. Selected narrative cuts, along with Riefenstahl’s planned sequences and documentary shots of martial mass scenes and seemingly random events, combine to glorify the Nazi regime.
