Charleys Tante is a comedy film directed by Robert A. Stemmle and based on Brandon Thomas's famous 1892 play Charley's Aunt. Charley Wyckham and Jack Chesney pressure fellow student Fancourt Babberley to pose as Charley's Brazilian aunt, Donna Lucia. Their purpose is to provide a chaperone for their romantic visits with Amy and Kitty—the niece and ward of the crusty Stephen Spettigue. Complications ensue when Fancourt, in drag, becomes the love interest of both old Spettigue and Sir Francis Chesney.
