Stadt Anatol (City of Anatol) is a drama directed by Viktor Tourjansky, starring Gustav Fröhlich and Brigitte Horney. Based on a 1932 novel by Bernhard Kellermann, the film follows Jacques, an adventurer who returns to the quiet town of Anatol with plans to drill for oil. While many locals view him as a "loafer," his discovery of "black gold" triggers a massive boom. The sudden wealth and greed ultimately lead to chaos, turning the tranquil town into what critics have described as a "burning inferno". It is noted for its dramatic, special-effects-heavy climax.
