"Späte Liebe" (1943), also known as "Late Love" in English, is a melodrama from the turn of the century. Sophie von Angerspang marries the rich factory owner August Polzer for financial reasons. August is willing to marry Sophie because secretly he fervently hopes that a marriage of purpose and reason will eventually grow into a marriage of love.
