After an oldest son passes away, a peasant farmer summons his second son home from his service as a naval sailor. The film extols the virtues of the Erbhofgesetz (the Reich Farm Inheritance Law), promoting blood and soil ideology by depicting traditional agrarian inheritance customs where the eldest son inherits the family farm.
