Well written and directed film with very good actors. Some of the dialog between the two leads is really heartwarming. I was very impressed by the music number at the end of the movie.
Karl Zimmermann plays the piano at “Café Rigoletto”, because he has to earn a living. In reality, his whole passion is for Classical music and he’s working on his own opera. It’s there, that he gets to know the pop singer Anni Pichler and immediately wants to start making “serious” music with her. But even the private lessons in his bachelor pad don’t convince her to settle down with him. Nevertheless, both like each other so much, that they end up getting married after a short while. Careerwise, however, each goes their separate way and that doesn’t sit too well at home. Money gets tight and Anni has to work. When Karl’s opera flops, he’s finally wiped out spiritually.
