The story follows Annie, the daughter of a master locksmith. She meets Georg, a car salesman, at a local fair, but the two quickly lose touch. Later, Annie is sent by her father on an errand to the residence of a wealthy countess. Upon her arrival at the train station, she is mistaken for the countess's niece. She is whisked away to the noble estate, setting off a hilarious chain of mixed-up identities, social misunderstandings, and romantic complications before she is reunited with Georg.
