Fiakerlied (released in English as The Cabbie's Song) is a romantic drama film directed by E.W. Emo and starring Paul Hörbiger. Set in 1880s old imperial Vienna, the nostalgic film follows a traditional horse-drawn carriage driver (Fiaker) who falls into a romance with a local performer from the Prater park named Ludmilla. It is named after the famous 1885 Viennese song by Gustav Pick.
The movie serves as a visual celebration of Wienerlied (Viennese song) culture. Paul Hörbiger, who played the lead role, also famously recorded the title track, capturing the archetype of the classic, proud Weanakind (Vienna child) who takes intense pride in his local roots and traditional horse carriage trade.
