Emile Jannings performance as Doctor Koch is excellent. Rudolph Virschow somewhat reminds me of a fraud and a publicity seeking showboat like Dr. Fauci.
I would like to draw your attention to one more thing. This movie is considered a German response to the 1936 American movie “The story of Louis Pasteur” directed by William Dieterle (German director!!!) and starring Paul Muni. It is not a bad movie in comparison with the other Hollywood junk. After “The story of Louis Pasteur” success, Dieterle was asked by shtetl Warner Brothers to direct several films which he did not like; That is what he said: “at Warners the moment you had a success they gave you something terrible to keep you from getting a swelled head.” I have uploaded this movie so a viewer can draw a comparison.
